Penny Dreadful Adds Jekyll & Hyde To Its Monstrous Roster

There’s another classic literary monster coming to season three of Victorian dark fantasy series Penny Dreadful: Robert Louis Stevenson’s abominable Mr Hyde (and his more civilised alter ego Dr Jekyll, of course).

He’ll be joining Dr Frankenstein, Dorian Grey and the wolfman in season three of TV’s biggest monster mash. Dr Henry Jekyll (and presumably Hyde) will be played by Shazad Latif (The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel). Anger management courses may be in order.

In related news, Patti LuPone (American Horror Story) will be returning to show after proving such a hit in season two… but as a different character. She played the Cut-Wife in the last season, but will appear in season three as a new regular character, an American therapist who treats Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) with an “unconventional new approach”. We’re guessing it’s not CBT.

Another new addition to the cast is Christian Carmago (Dexter) as a zoologist who befriends Vanessa, Sam Barnett as Carmago’s secretary, Wes Studi (Hell On Wheels) as a Native American who has a past with Ethan and Jessica Barden as a young acolyte of Lily and Dorian’s.

Penny Dreadful returns in 2016.
