Marvel To Create Damage Control Sitcom For TV

damage controlSo far, Guardians Of The Galaxy is closest that the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has skirted with full-on comedy, but that’s all about to change. Not on the big screen, though.

Marvel Television has penned a deal with US TV network ABC to develop a half-hour sitcom based on Damage Control, a group of characters who have been clearing up superhero/supervillain battles in sporadic appearances since 1989. They’ve headlined a couple of comics mini-series of their own, but more often appear in cameos in other titles.

The Daily Show’s Ben Karlin will develop and executive produce the project with Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s David Miner and Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb.

This is one rare case, though, when DC has beaten Marvel off the blocks, though. DC announced it was developing  half-hour comedy called Powerless with NBC back in August. That one is a workplace comedy about a powerless guy who works in an insurance firm in a world where superheroes and supervillains constantly wreak havoc… creating work for insurance companies.
