BUZZ News Shorts: Once Upon A Time, Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 & More



••• Hook’s father is being introduced to Once Upon A Time at some point before the show’s Christmas break in an episode focusing on Colin O’Donoghue’s pirate and Lana Parilla’s Evil Queen, series’ co-creators Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis revealed at New York Comic Con. Hook’s father, who has yet to be cast, will be seen in flashbacks, showing how he moulded the young Hook. “We’ll see Hook as a little boy,” confirmed Kitsis.  They also revealed that the pre-Christmas block of episodes will culminate with a two-hour episode. “And part of that episode is going to be a Merida adventure with Mulan and Ruby,” said Horowitz. [via TVLine]

I’d like to do some big superhero villain in some Marvel classic.” But he doesn’t have any particular villain in mind and doesn’t necessarily want to play a pre-existing character, preferring to, “Create one from scratch… I don’t know what I would do but it would be nasty.” [via ComicBookResources]

••• Disney is adding to its growing list of live action versions of past animated films with the announcement that it’s making a film based on 101 Dalmatians villain Cruella De Vil. Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter Kelly Marvel has been signed up to pen the project, simply titled Cruella. Of course, there have already been two live action 101 Dalmatian films with Glenn Close as Cruella while Victoria Smurfit played her on Once Upon A Time.  [via]

••• Latino Review has spotted that Zoe Saldana (Gamora) posted a message on Facebook saying to Benicio Del Toro, “I’ll see you on Guardians!” which seems to suggest that The Collector will be in Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2.

••• The average US viewing figures for the first season of Fear The Walking Dead have made it a record breaker: the highest rated debut season of a show ever on a cable channel. [via Deadline]

Minority Report

••• The new Minority Report TV series (above) looks likely to be an early casualty in this year’s US TV season. After some disastrous viewing figures (it premiered to a measly 3.1 million viewers) Fox has cut its order of episodes from 13 to 10. Cancellation is a virtual certainty and you don’t need to be able to see the future to know that. [via Deadline]

••• Extant is extinct. After two seasons, CBS has cancelled the Halle Berry-starring sci-fi thriller. [via]

••• Ubisoft Motion Pictures CEO Jean Julien Baronnet has told French film magazine Premiere that he wants the Michael Fassbender-starring Assassin’s Creed movie to be “modelled on features like Batman Begins or Blade Runner… We obviously want the film to have depth, but also to be fun and for there to be some lightness.” [via Den Of Geek]
