The Lost Terry Gilliam Animations Of Monty Python And The Holy Grail

Amazingly it seems there’s a lot of Monty Python And The Holy Grail we’ve never seen! A whole bunch of Terry Gilliam’s signature animation pieces ended up on the cutting room floor. But now some long-lost animation from the film has been unearthed for the new40th anniversary Blu-ray and DVD release of the film which was released this week.

“This is probably the only reason to buy this new Blu-ray version of the film, for the new animation,” deadpans Gilliam in the hilarious commentary (he’s probably joking but many a true word in jest is said). “It was the animation that was cut out by the rather envious members of the group who were trying to restrain a young, talented animator, a man who could have gone on to be a great animator but, no, he was forced into live action filmmaking to cover the scars.”
