Director Posts First Set Pic As War For The Planet Of The Apes Begins Filming

“It has begun,” Tweeted director Matt Reeves enigmatically as filming commenced on War Of The Planet Of The Apes yesterday. He also shared a moody pic of the production’s trip to the seaside.

Of course, it’s difficult to not see a picture of a beach in a Planet Of The Apes movie and not think of the classic ending to the original 1968 film, but in the timeline of the new movies, film three seems a little early for the Statue Of Liberty to be up to her breasts in sand.

War For The Planet Of The Apes is due for a UK release on 21 July 2017. It’s directed once again by Reeves (Cloverfield), who directed Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, and the announced cast so far includes Andy Serkis and Steve Zahn in the apes’ corner, and Gabriel Chavarria and Woody Harrelson representing the humans.
