Pom Klementieff Cast in Mystery Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2 Role

Relatively unknown actress Pom Klementieff has been cast in a mystery new role in Marvel’s Phase 3 sequel Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Marvel conducted a wide search in casting the role, which called for an Asian actress, and did several rounds of chemistry reads (meaning she was tested for how well she interacted with a specific other actor or actors). Although born in Quebec, Canada (to a Korean mother and French-Russian father) Klementieff only lived there for a year, and has also lived in the Ivory Coast, Japan and France.

She has appeared in a number of films in her native France, but her English-language movie debut was in Spike Lee’s remake of Oldboy (2013), after which she moved to LA.

Meanwhile, Variety reports that Matthew McConaughey turned down the part of the main villain in the Marvel sequel.

Guardians Of The Galaxy Volume 2, once again directed by James Gunn and featuring the return of all the main cast from the first film, is set to be released in the UK on 28 April 2017.
