SPECTRE Breaks UK Box Office Records

From the moment it opened, it was obvious that the latest James Bond blockbuster SPECTRE was going to generate this headline after its first week. After breaking the records for the most money earned at the box office ever on a Tuesday and a Wednesday last week, it had a bonanza first weekend to beat Skyfall and become the fastest grossing movie in the UK ever.

SPECTRE, the second Bond directed by Sam Mendes and the fourth to star Daniel Craig, now officially has biggest seven-day opening of all time in the UK with $63.8 million.

More impressively, despite having been in cinemas for a few days already, SPECTRE made slightly more over the weekend than than Skyfall did in its three-day debut in 2012.

So far SPECTRE has earned $80.4 million around the world already from just the six territories in which it’s opened already, breaking records in all them. Its $3.7 million opening in the Netherlands surpassed the previous record set by Skyfall. In Denmark, it scored the top three-day opening of all time with $4.2 million. It opens in North America on 6 November.

The big question now is: will North America fall for the superspy’s charms once again too and help SPECTRE match Skyfall’s over-a-billion worldwide gross?
