Another Comic Book Character Cast For Agent Carter

Ken Marino Agent Carter Joseph Manfredi

There’s a new mob boss, plucked from the Marvel comics universe, set to cause problems for Marvel’s Agent Carter and he’s being played by a guy who once played a gay demon on Reaper.

Ken Marino (Gattaca, Wanderlust, Children’s Hospital) has been cast as mob boss Joseph Manfredi. In the comics he’s the son of legendary Maggia boss Silvio Manfredi, aka Silvermane.   Joseph first appeared in Daredevil #118 (1955) as the supervillain Blackwing, whose gimmick was trained bats. Later he became a more traditional mob boss, but we kinda still hope (without much hope) that a trained bat will make an appearance in Agent Carter.

Blackwing“We’ve loved working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on Reaper,” say executive Producers Tara Butters, Chris Dingess, and Michele Fazekas. “We were so happy he was available for this role. His range is incredible – he can go from comedy to romance to drama with ease. Writing for him is easy, because he can do pretty much anything. And he used to have a karaoke room in his house, which makes him even more awesome.”

“At Marvel, even our villains need a certain degree of charm as they make life difficult for our heroes,” says Marvel TV boss Jeph Loeb. “Ken brings a quality to Joseph Manfredi that only serves to make him even more menacing, adding another layer of depth to our already outstanding supporting cast.”

Marvel’s Agent Carter season two stars Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, and relocates the action from New York City to Los Angeles. She’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect. The show also stars James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Agent Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as Chief Daniel Sousa, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Bridget Regan as Dottie Underwood, Wynn Everett as Whitney Frost, Lotte Verbeek as Ana Jarvis, Lesley Boone as Rose and Kurtwood Smith as Vernon Masters. It will start airing early next year on ABC in the States and soon after on FOX in the UK.
