Doctor Who Finale Will Be Over An Hour Long

Warning: series finale spoilers below the image.

The BBC has confirmed that the finale episode of Doctor Who series nine, “Hell Bent”, written by Steven Moffat, will have a running time of over an hour long.

The exact running time has yet to be determined by the episode will fill a 65 minute slot – from 8pm to 9.05pm, on Saturday 5 December on BBC One. The previous episode, “Heaven Sent” has a running time of a smidgin over 53 minutes, so although the Capaldi series are an episode shorter than was previously the norm, they are clawing back lost time in terms of running length.

The BBC also revealed an official synopsis a couple of days back for the finale which has a whacking great spoiler in it. Obviously the Doctor Who production office doesn’t mind this information being out there, but if you do like your surprises then maybe avert your eyes now:

“If you took everything from him, betrayed him, trapped him, and broke both his hearts…how far might the Doctor go?

“Returning to Gallifrey, the Doctor faces the Time Lords in a struggle that will take him to the end of time itself. Who is the Hybrid? And what is the Doctor’s confession?”
