Michael Biehn Teases Neill Blomkamp’s Aliens Sequel

neill_blomkamp_aliens_concept_art_2Whether it will ever happen is still unclear, but Niell (District 9) Blomkamp’s Alien sequel is still managing to create headlines. Now Michael Biehn, who played Hicks, one of the few survivors of James Cameron’s Aliens (1986) along with Ripley and Newt, has revealed a few titbits about what he knows about the proposed, but much-delayed sequel.

Blomkamp has been revealing concept art from the project ever since it was announced which revealed that Biehn would be returning to the role of Hicks in the film, alongside Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley. Now he confirms that Newt would be returning too, though if the film ever goes into production after Ridley Scott’s series of prequels run their course, then she wouldn’t be played by the girl who played her as six-year-old in Aliens, Carrie Henn, who has barely acted since.

“The basic idea is acting like Alien 3 and 4 never existed,” Biehn tells fan site Icons Of Fright [via The Hollywood Reporter]. “They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around 27 years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one; it’s really a passing of the torch between Sigourney and this younger actress who would play Newt.”

He’s also convinced the film will get made. “I know they’re putting the brakes on Neill’s movie just for a little while but I really think that it would be embarrassing to Ridley and Fox and Sigourney if they just didn’t make the movie.”
