Sky 1 adds Legends of Tomorrow to its DC shows

UK Broadcaster Sky has announced that superhero drama Legends of Tomorrow, which is set in the same DC Comics TV universe as Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow, will air on Sky 1 in 2016.

“From the team behind our three best-loved superhero shows and with a great high-profile cast, there’s real pedigree behind DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” said Adam MacDonald, director of Sky 1. “Our customers are going to love it.”

In Legends of Tomorrow, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Doctor Who’s Arthur Darvill), having seen the future, must put together a group of both heroes and villains to take on the unstoppable, immortal threat of Vandal Savage (Casper Crump) – a threat that not only puts the planet but all of time itself at stake.

The show also stars Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer / The Atom), Victor Garber (Dr. Martin Stein / Firestorm), Franz Drameh (Firestorm), Caity Lotz (White Canary) Ciara Renée (Hawkgirl), Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave) and Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold).

MacDonald said the decision to add Legends of Tomorrow to Sky’s output came “hot on the heels of the amazing success of Supergirl” and the strong viewing figures for comic-book dramas The Flash and Arrow, which are “some of the best performing shows on the channel”.

Supergirl’s recent launch attracted a consolidated audience of 1.64 million – the largest for a series launch on Sky 1 since 2013. It currently draws in an average weekly audience of over 1.1m. Meanwhile, Season 4 of Arrow is attracting some of its biggest audiences since 2013, and The Flash is one of Sky 1’s top performing shows ever.

Fans without Sky TV can access it via the online streaming service NOW TV, with an Entertainment Month Pass costing £6.99.
