Woman In Black For Fourth Men In Black Film

Men In Black producer Laurie MacDonald has told BBC’s Newsbeat that the fourth film in the series will feature “a prominent woman in black.”

Will Smith is expected to sit the next film out, though MacDonald’s producing partner and husband Walter Parkes teased, “Never count Will out,”  so expect a cameo appearance, but the franchise will continue.

“We sort of looked at the first three in retrospect as a bit of a trilogy,” says Parkes. “We tried to tell a story about those two characters and that relationship. It sounds silly because it’s a fun, science fiction comedy but when you work on these things you sort of try to find some thematic basis underneath it. Now we are looking at a reinvention, but it’s a wonderful world to get back into.”

Dear lord, let’s hope the same neanderthals who filled the internet with “Female Ghostbusters BAD!” vitriol don’t get their knickers in a twist about this one. Not that they wear knickers, of course. They’re too manly for that.

As long as the film doesn’t have too many jokes along “we’re the Men In Black not Women In Black” line or cringingly obvious gags like lipstick neuralysers (it took us about a nanosecond to come up with that one), this could be a very good move to reinvigorate the franchise.
