Stallone Signs Up For Rambo: New Blood TV Series

Sylvester Stallone has signed a deal to star in and executive produce a TV series for FOX based on the Rambo films. Rambo: New Blood would focus on Stallone’s John Rambo and his son JR, an ex-Navy SEAL. The pilot will be written by Die Hard and The Fugitive screenwriter Jeb Stuart.

Entertainment One and Avi Lerner’s Millennium Films will produce the series. Their previously-announced fifth film, Rambo: Last Blood, has been put on hold.

The film series kicked off  First Blood (1982) and was followed by Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985) which truly made the character a world wide cinematic icon and remains the highest-grossing film in the series taking over $300 million at the global box office. The  came Rambo III (1988) and, after a 20-year break Rambo (2008). There was also an animated series Rambo: The Force of Freedom, in 1986.

The First Blood TV series – not be confused with Son Of Rambow (2007) – was first mooted in 2013 but Stallone was not expected to be involved at that point.
