Samurai Jack Is Coming Back – Genndy Tartakovsky Still In Charge

Cult cartoon hit Samurai Jack is coming back to TV, and US channel Adult Swim has released this teaser trailer to announce the fact…

Better yet, creator Genndy Tartakovsky is still in the driving seat. With Tartakovsky being a big Hollywood director now, with the two mega-successful Hotel Transylvania films to his name, you’d have thought he’s be too busy for TV toons these days. But maybe his Titanic and ultimately fruitless struggle to get his vision for a Popeye movie greenlit has left him thinking, “What the hell. Hollywood’s loss.” And we’re certainly not complaining about more Genndy-produced Samurai Jack.

The original series ran from 2001 to 2004 for 52 episodes, chronicling the efforts of a “foolish samurai warrior with a magic sword,” to try to defeat the evil shapeshifter Aku. There have been rumours that Tartakovsky would like to make a Samurai Jack film. Perhaps this is a first step towards that?
