Creed Director In Negotiations For Black Panther Movie

Creed director Ryan Coogler is in negotiations with Marvel to helm the Black Panther movie, starring Chadwick Boseman and scheduled for a November 2017 release.

As The Hollywood Reporter points out, Coogler had already been in talks with Marvel as regards Black Panther a few months ago but nothing came of them. But now that Rocky spin-off Creed, starring Michael B Jordan as Apollo Creed’s son Adonis, has been released to a much stronger critical and box office success than expected Coogler has suddenly become the front runner.

Chadwick Boseman will debut as T’Challa, the head of the fictional African nation of Wakanda who moonlights as the Black Panther, in Captain America: Civil War. The character was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 (1966) and is recognised as the first mainstream black superhero.
