Top 10 Pirated TV Shows Of 2015

It may be a dubious honour to win (though it’s certainly a sign of popularity) but reigning champion Game Of Thrones once again tops TorrentFreak’s Top 10 Most Pirated TV Shows Of The Year. It’s been top of the list since season two. Season one of Game Of Thrones was in runner up position in 2011.

In fact, the top three remains unchanged from 2014, with The Walking Dead and The Big Bang Theory second and third respectively. Vanishing from the list are How I Met You Mother (which finished in 2014), GothamGrey’s Anatomy and South Park, making way for new entries The Flash, Mr Robot, Supergirl and The Blacklist.

1 (-) Game of Thrones – 14.4 million downloads
2 (-) The Walking Dead – 6.9 million
3 (-) The Big Bang Theory – 4.4 million
4 (+2) Arrow – 3.9 million
5 (New entry) The Flash – 3.6 million
6 (New entry) Mr Robot – 3.5 million
7 (+1) Vikings – 3.3 million
8 (New entry) Supergirl – 3 million
9 (New entry) The Blacklist – 2.9 million
10 (-1) Suits – 2.6 million

TorrentFreak also points out that this year it broke an all-time piracy record when more than 258,131 peers shared the same torrent file simultaneously. The Hollywood Reporter adds that it broke another piracy record when episodes were downloaded seven million times from 5 February to 6 April 2015.

The pirate numbers for the most popular shows in the Top 10 are up significantly over 2014 (when the figure for Game Of Thrones was 8.1 million downloads and The Walking Dead achieved 4.8 million) but they level out to near comparable as you get to the bottom of the list.
