••• Disney has revealed a new image from Alice In Wonderland sequel Alice Through The Looking Glass, which is set for a UK release on 27 Ma7 2016.


••• 20th Century Fox has hired writers Brandon and Phillip Murphy to adapt Mark Millar’s comic book series Superior for the big screen. Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass) will produce the film along with Tarquin Pack. In the seven-issue mini-series, published in 2010, is about a popular, sporty young boy, Simon, who is struck down by multiple sclerosis and escapes into the world of movies and comics. One of his favourite characters is the Superman-like Superior. Then Simon is given the chance to become Superior… at a cost to his soul. [via SuperheroHype]

These include Justin Timberlake (The Social Network) as Branch (he’ll also be performing a number of songs on the soundtrack); Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect) as Princess Poppy; James Corden as Biggie; Russell Brand as Creek; music superstar Gwen Stefani as DJ Suki; YouTube personality GloZell Green as Grandma Rosiepuff; Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) as Guy Diamond; comedian Ron Funches (Undateable) as Cooper; YouTube personality Meg DeAngelis as Moxie; and Swedish electropop duo Icona Pop (Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo) as the Fashionistas.

••• Darren Aronofsky’s production company is involved in the filming of a major new documentary for the National Geographic channel which will include some filming in space. One Strange Rock will  film for around 100 weeks around the world and in outer space, using micro- and macro-photography technology and bringing cameras where they’ve never been before. “We’re going to transport viewers on a mind-bending and thrilling visual adventure that will amaze and surprise,” said National Geographic Global Networks CEO Courteney Monroe, with Aronofsky adding: “One Strange Rock explores how intricate, interwoven and fragile life as we know it is on Earth and how rare it may be in the universe. The more we appreciate how awe-inspiring the development of life on this planet has been, the more likely we are to become inspired stewards of the home that sustains it.” [via The Hollywood Reporter]

emma_stone••• Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man, Birdman) is in early negotiations to portray the 101 Dalmatians villainess Cruella de Vil in the live action film Cruella, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Although Glenn Close has already portrayed Cruella in two live action 101 Dalmatians films this new project is intended to do for the character what Angelina Jolie’s Maleficent did for the Sleeping Beauty villain.

••• Could Fast & Furious 8 be the first major studio Hollywood movie to film in Cuba since the ’60s now that the US embargo on trade with the nation has been dropped? According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources claim that F&F8’s director F Gary Gray recently returned from a scouting trip to Cuba and the production has moved forward with the paperwork to shoot there. “Universal Pictures is currently in the process seeking approval from the United States and Cuban governments to explore shooting a portion of the next instalment of the Fast & Furious series in Cuba,” said a statement from the studio.
