Daredevil Showrunner Responds To Elektra Creator Frank Miller’s Negative Comments

Frank Miller tends to go all Alan Moore whenever the subject of screen versions of Elektra (or even new Elektra storylines appear in Marvel comics) come up. He has every right: he created the character, but you do get the feeling now that his grumpiness is a bit of a Pavlovian reaction (understandable after what Hollywood did to Ms Natchios in the Ben Affleck Daredevil and Elektra movies).

So it was little surprise when he was recently asked whether he’d be watching Netflix’s second season of Daredevil and he responded. “No…  they can call it whatever you want, but it will  not be the real Elektra.”

You could argue, “Well, how does he know if he doesn’t watch the blimmin’ thing, but, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, co-runner Doug Petrie was more diplomatic in his response.

“God bless him, it’s his prerogative. I’m a huge fan of what he did, so the criticism doesn’t go both ways. I wouldn’t say, ‘What does Frank Miller know?’ I’m so inspired by him and what he achieved and I’m trying to take it further and enrich her. She’s an empowered woman with her own agency, she’s nobody’s victim.”
