Director Luc Besson Reveals Cool Behind-The-Scenes Pics Of His New Space Opera Valerian

Production is well underway on Luc (The Fifth Element) Besson’s new blockbuster space opera Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets, and the director has been busily filling his Instagram account with some very intriguing behind-the-scenes pics. Some of the sets look very impressive indeed. Even though we only get glimpses of them against swathes of green screen, they hint at the visual style that the final movie is going to have.

Cara Delevingne plays Laureline, opposite Dane DeHaan as Valérian in this adaptation of the long-running French comic strip Valérian et Laureline. Clive Owen, Ethan Hawke, Herbie Hancock, John Goodman and Rihanna are also in the cast. In the film, Valerian and Laureline voyage to Syrte, the capital planet of a system of 1,000 worlds to discover whether the Syrtians present a danger to Earth. There they find a crumbling empire ruled by decadent aristocrats ripe to be overthrown, while a secret society controls things behind the scenes.

Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets is currently scheduled for a UK release on 21 July 2017.
