Game Of Thrones’ Ser Loras Tyrell Is Cast As Marvel’s Iron Fist

The Defenders are assembling. One of the final pieces of the Marvel Netflix jigsaw is now in place with the news that Game of Thrones actor Finn Jones – Ser Loras Tyrell – has been cast as Danny Rand, aka Marvel’s martial arts superhero Iron Fist [via Entertainment Weekly].

As with Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) before him, Iron Fist will be the subject of his own series on Netflix before all four characters come together for a Defenders series. The series is expected to premier on Netflix’s streaming service in 2017.

Created by writer Roy Thomas and artists Gil Kane and Bill Everett in Marvel Premiere #15 (1974), Iron Fist is Danny Rand, son of a wealthy business who learns martial arts and how to wield a mystical force known as the Iron Fist in the mystical city of  K’un-L’un. In the comics he was a constant ally of Luke Cage and even set up Heroes For Hire with him.

In the Netflix series Daniel Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years. There, he fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.

Scott Buck (Dexter, Six Feet UnderRome) is the showrunner and executive producer.
