This Friday Wonder Woman makes her big screen debut in Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. Well, her live action big screen debut. There was always the version in The Lego Movie voiced by Cobie Smulders but this is the first proper movie Wonder Woman. And so now Warner Bros is getting everybody ready for her solo movie.
They’ve released through Entertainment Weekly a new Wonder Woman promo image showing off the Amazons from the upcoming film, including first looks at Diana’s mother, Queen Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen), and her two aunts General Antiope (Robin Wright) and Antiope’s lieutenant, Menalippe (Lisa Loven Kongsli).
“Themyscira is influenced by the Greek but it’s clearly more then that,” says producer Charles Roven. “It’s a place that has that, ‘You’ve never been to,’ kind of feel. But once you’re there you’re not so sure you really want to leave so fast.”
“To me, they shouldn’t be dressed in armour like men,” says director Patty Jenkins of their armour. “It should be different. It should be authentic and real – and appealing to women.”
By which she might also mean, “pretty rubbish protection in a fight.”
Wonder Woman is due to be released in the UK on 23 June 2017.
