Developer Square Enix has revealed that when Final Fantasy XV is released on 30 September this year the game is going to be supported by a vast variety of Final Fantasy XV spin-off, including a new CG movie with a starry voice cast and a new anime series.
The CG movie is called Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, which is being produced by Sony and Square Enix. The English voice cast includes Sean Bean (The Lord of the Rings, Game Of Thrones) as Regis, the King of Lucis who has sworn to protect his kingdom; Lena Headey (300, Game of Thrones) as Luna, the princess who has been entrusted to deliver the royal ring of Lucis to Prince Noctis: and Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) as Nyx. The title will be released digitally worldwide before the game’s launch. The epic battles in the film will set the stage for Final Fantasy XV game. Here’s the trailer:
The five-episode anime series, meanwhile, is called Brotherhood Final Fantasy XV. Each episode will be a standalone that delves into the friendships between crown prince Noctis and his three comrades, again setting the stage for the events in the game. Better yet episode one is available now. Here! To watch as soon as you like or when you next have 12 minutes to spare.
The other episodes will be released periodically before the game’s launch. Here’s a trailer for the overall series:
And there’s more. Platinum Demo – Final Fantasy XV is a free download demo that takes players to a fragmented dreamscape of Noctis as a child. This storyline is unique to the demo and will not be available in the final version of the main game. Players who complete the demo will unlock the exclusive Carbuncle summon DLC for the full game at launch. The demo is available now on Xbox One, and through the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4. Here’s the trailer:
Oh yeah, and there’s also a trailer for the actual game, of course. It’s subtitled “Reclaim Your Throne” and features a cover version of “Stand By Me” by Florence + the Machine (it starts about half way through). Which is nice.
You might also notice the guys playing a pinball game at one point in the trailer. We’re guessing you’ll be able to play it to. Because Square Enix has also announced Justice Monster Five, a pinball game for mobile devices combining role-playing elements with some of the franchise’s most iconic monsters that will also be available to play in-game in Final Fantasy XV. The mobile version will be available soon for free on Google Play for Android devices, on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Universal Store for Windows 10 devices.
