If possession is nine tenths of the law, and the law is an ass, then, ipso facto, Robert Kirkman’s new show is about nine tenths of a donkey. Hang on. Oh right. Not that kind of possession. Demonic possession. Outcast is the spooky new show from the man who created The Walking Dead and once again it’s an adaptation of his own comic book series.
Patrick Fugit (Gone Girl) stars as Barnes, a man searching for answers, and for redemption, who hides himself away from those he loves for fear of causing greater hurt. Philip Glenister (Life On Mars) plays hard drinkin’ Reverend Anderson, a West Virginia evangelist who believes he is a soldier in God’s holy war against the forces of evil on Earth. Gabriel Bateman (Stalker) plays Joshua Austin, an eight-year-old who lives across town from Kyle. To his family’s dismay, he appears to be in the clutches of demonic possession, but there’s something very different about this possession and its connection to Kyle Barnes.
The show, which will debut in the States on Cinemax on 3 June (and will air on FOX in the UK at some point) has already been greenlit for a second season.
