Robin Wright, Clair Underwood in House Of Cards and forever Princess Buttercup for anyone who has ever seen The Princess Bride, is joining Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford in Alcon Entertainment’s Blade Runner 2.
As yet there are no details on her role in the sequel to the cult 1982 movie but the film is scheduled to go into production in July. The film is set several decades after the original, and is being directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario). Harrison Ford will be reprising his role as Rick Deckard. Which must prove he isn’t a replicant, surely? Unless they use some serious CG voodoo to de-age him. And even if they could do that, surely any Deckard replicant would be well past its expiration date by now?
But Villeneuve has hinted in previous things that things might not be that cut-and-dry: “The thing I must say is that I love mystery. I love shadows. I love doubts. I would just want to say to the fans that we will take care of that mystery. I will take care of it.”
The film has been written by Hampton Fancher and Michael Green, based on an initial draft by Fancher and David Peoples. The current release date for Blade Runner 2 is January 2018.
