Who would have thought as the beginning of 2016 that R-rated, budget X-movie Deadpool would become the most lucrative X-Men movie at the box office ever? But that’s indeed what it has become, so it’s no surprise that Fox is eager for lightning to strike twice.
During its panel at CinemaCon, 20th Century Fox confirmed not only that the Deadpool sequel has the green light but that the entire creative team behind the first film will return. This includes star Ryan Reynolds, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, and director Tim Miller. [via Coming Soon]
Meanwhile, during the press day for Fox’s Deadpool Blu-ray release, director Tim Miller and producer Simon Kinberg revealed that the success of their film is making them bullish about the possibility of a crossover between Deadpool and Spider-Man, despite the fact that different studios own the properties.
“Simon and I have been trying to build bridges,” said Miller.
“I would love to see it,” added Kinberg. “Both of us are close with [Marvel’s] Kevin [Feige], we respect and love Kevin. If it were even remotely possible, we will find a way ’cause we’d would love to see it.” However, at this point in time, Kinberg officially states, “I just don’t know if it would be possible.” [via Coming Soon]
