Robert Downey has signed on the dotted line and Iron Man/Tony Stark will be appearing in Spider-Man: Homecoming. However, it’s also been confirmed that Michael Keaton, who was rumoured to be in negotiations, will not have a role in the role in the movie.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Downey has just closed a deal to appear in Homecoming but it’s unclear if deal is just for that one movie or includes multiple appearances in further MCU films (though he was already committed to Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2).
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit Tweeted, “The dangers of trying to report deal too early: Michael Keaton NOT doing Spider-Man. Talks never got past the offer stage.”
Tom Holland will star as Spidey in Spider-Man: Homecoming following his debut in Captain America: Civil War, which establishes the relationship between Peter Parker and Tony Stark, which will then lead into Homecoming.
