Syfy Close To Greenlighting Krypton Series About Superman’s Granddad

According to TVLine Syfy is close is getting a slice of the ever-growing DC small screen universe with the news that the previously-rumored Krypton series is close getting a pilot green light.

The show is rumoured to be set on Krypton 200 years before the planet blew up, focussing on Kal-El’s grandfather.

“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracised,” reads the series’ official synopsis. “This series follows the Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest superhero ever known.”

David S Goyer (scriptwriter on the Dark Knight trilogy, Man Of Steel, Batman V Superman) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) have created the series. Goldberg is set to draft the pilot with Goyer attached to executive produce. Goyer has indicated that the series would act as kind of Man Of Steel prequel.

But will it exist in the same universe as CBS’s Supergirl – which also has Krypton flashbacks – or will it play the multiverse card? We’re guessing the latter.
