The CW is on the look-out for an actor to play a mysterious new recurring character called James in season five of Arrow.
A casting call for the character reveals that he will an “irrepressibly charming” contemporary of Oliver’s and “a man on a mission” who is out to avenge a tragic, violent loss from his own, years-ago past. The character is said to “just as easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he’s more than capable of having a good time as he does it.”
The show is looking for an actor of any ethnicity, in his late-20s to 30s and who comes across as a physical threat.
There is a “James” in the Green Arrow’s comic continuity: James Harper, Roy Harper’s uncle and future superhero named Guardian. Could this be him? Whatever the case, 90% of recurring characters on the show end up either suiting up or getting a code name so he’s almost certainly someone from DC comics.
At the moment only Stephen Amell (Oliver) and Echo Kellum (Curtis Holt) are officially confirmed for season five of Arrow, but we’re sure other regulars will be back too; the producers just don’t want yet to spoil if anyone else is going to die in the remainder of season four.
