CBS has officially confirmed via Twitter the new Star Trek TV series will begin filming in Toronto in the autumn.

Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), who had his big break working on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager, is co-creator and executive producer of the new series. The autumn start date presumably gives him time to wrap up his work on Starz’s American Gods TV adaptation first. Busy man.
The series is scheduled to premiere in January 2017 with a terrestrial broadcast on CBS followed by an exclusive run in the US on the online streaming service CBS All Access.
Star Trek will be produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth will serve as executive producers.
