There’s over the top and then there’s Bayonetta, with the latest Nintendo Direct being a special presentation that focused solely on the upcoming sequel Bayonetta 2. It featured PlatinumGames director Yusuke Hashimoto and producer Akiko Kuroda as they talked about the game’s characters, story, combo moves, weapons, as well as revealing the game’s release date. The latest Nintendo Direct revealed a new trailer for Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 2 for the Wii U. Outlandish over-the-top action is expected, but it also offers a little in the way of story. It appears that Bayonetta is travelling to the Mountain of Thimble Venter to rescue Jeanne. Two weeks ago the Wii U was not looking so hot. With two E3‘s under its belt Nintendo‘s new console seemed to be failing to impress even long time Nintendo fans. We didn’t know when it was coming, how much it would cost, or what games we would be playing on it at launch. Then came the September Nintendo Direct Presentations, providing answers to some of the important questions and giving us things to look forward to. Now pre-orders...

Bayonetta developer Platinum Games had previously stated that they’d love to make a sequel but it seemed that nobody wanted to fund it. In an unexpected turn of events, Nintendo has decided to take a risk and will be publishing Bayonetta 2 as a Wii U exclusive title.  Whilst this may upset fans of the series who would have loved to see a sequel on the PS3 or Xbox 360, at least they can take comfort knowing that a sequel is coming because...
