Studio Ghibli film to be released this year?

There are rumours surrounding the much eagerly anticipated new Studio Ghibli film, The Borrower Arrietty, and it’s speculated release date. The film is based on the famous The Borrowers and will be Studio Ghibli’s 17th release (with their 18th due for release this summer in Japan). The Borrower Arrietty came out in Japan last summer and, as always, UK fans have to wait considerably longer than the rest of the world – last year’s Studio Ghibli film Ponyo had its release date pushed back six months in the UK.

However, leaked information and speculation has discovered that The Borrower Arrietty could have a release date in the UK for August this year, which is sooner than expected. The American release date had originally been for 2012, making the wait for the UK the same if not longer.

The Borrower Arrietty does look like it could be a fantastic new anime movie to watch this summer, so keep your eyes peeled.
