James Corden returns to Doctor Who

With series 6 of Doctor Who just around the corner, the BBC have revealed that James Corden will be returning to his role of Craig Owens – the “ordinary bloke” that we last met in the episode titled “The Lodger” from series 5.

Speaking of Doctor Who back in 2010, James Corden said that he felt “very honoured to be a part of it” but expressed disappointment about not getting to go into the Tardis, however perhaps this time around his wish will be granted though.

The Lodger” was watched by over 6 million people when it first aired last year and the brilliantly eccentric performance of The Doctor by Matt Smith clashed perfectly with the ordinary bloke Craig Owens.
Writing for The Daily Telegraph, Gavin Fuller described the episode as a “delight” and “Thoroughly enjoyable (and) often amusing.”

The reappearance of Craig Owens into the series will certainly fuel speculation about the time engine powered alien vessel from “The Lodger”  having a much bigger role in the series than first thought. With the main enemy from series 5 yet to be uncovered fans are still speculating over who or what it may be, currently it is only known as “The silence” due to the phrase “silence will fall” being repeated throughout the series.

Series 6 of Doctor Who will be airing in two parts – the first being in spring and the last being in autumn.
