Tron: Uprising Animated Series Trailer Debuts

Following last weekend’s debut of a trailer of the new Thundercats animated series by Cartoon Network, Disney XD has released the first look at their forthcoming animated project Tron:Uprising.

The 10 part series is set to take place between the Tron and Tron: Legacy movies and tells the story of Beck, a young programme who becomes the unlikely leader of a revolution inside the computer world of The Grid.

The series is set to air in Summer 2012 and the impressive looking artwork aside, it is worth noting that Disney and the producers are building what looks to be a top notch voice cast to support it. So far it is been confirmed that Elijah Wood will be taking on the role of Beck with Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens, Lance Henriksen and perhaps most importantly Bruce Boxleitner will return as Tron.

The series will also, from what we see in the trailer, feature some of the staples that have been associated with the Tron world such as light cycle battles and the added fact of Bruce Boxleitner as Tron only proves that Disney plan to make this as faithful to the universe as possible and not just another spin off.

Tron: Uprising premieres on Disney XD next summer.
