Glee Cast To Release Warblers Album

For those of you who have been keeping up with the Fox smash hit musical show Glee, you may have noticed the shows new focus on rival glee club to the lead New DirectionsThe Warblers, a group of teenage boys who attend a prep school singing mostly a cappella versions of popular songs (their version Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” went straight to number one in the charts). Now it seems that all that focus is paying off as The Warblers are getting their own album. Recurring Glee guest star Darren Criss announced the album on Live with Regis and Kelly claiming that it should be out sometime in April. Criss also joked that he would love to see a Warblers spin off, but it seems unlikely that will ever happen.

The album will feature Criss, Glee co-star and Emmy nominee Chris Colfer and the backup will come from The Beelzebubs (a Tufts a capella group that have been appearing in the show as The Warblers). No announcements have yet been made if further Glee cast members will be appearing, or if the songs on the album are strictly just songs from the show. The songs confirmed so far are “Bills, Bills, Bills”, “When I Get You Alone” and the aforementioned “Teenage Dream”.

The Warblers have been a refreshing change for Glee, offering something new and different for fans of the show, clearly the creators want to keep it fresh since there have been a few reports of the show losing its originality and charm rather quickly. Luckily the Glee audience went crazy for The Warblers with “Teenage Dream”, so perhaps we will see more rival clubs appear in the future of Glee. This does beg the question though, with the brilliant rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” we got last season, will we ever see Jonathan Groff headlining a Vocal Adrenaline album? Only time and iTunes downloads will tell.
