Anime Fans Give Back To Japan

The One Piece Podcast has been collecting funds to help Japan recover from the quake and tsunami and as part of this effort they have created and will be running a 24 hour podcasting marathon live on Ustream from 6:00PM EST (10:00pm GMT) on Saturday, March 19th through 6:00PM EST (10:00pm GMT) on Sunday, March 20th. The stream will be available on their website or it can watched via Ustream directly from here and a schedule of this event can be found here.

The podcast is looking to raise over $25,000 using GlobalGiving with all funds going to those in Japan as a result. Fans can also donate directly by going to here.

The response to this special podcast from the Anime Industry has been fantastic and below is a list of a few of the voice actors that will be joining the podcast:

Steven Jay Blum voice of Cowboy Bebop‘s Spike (and a lot of others).

Crispin Freeman voice of Alucard in Hellsing (and a lot of others).

Reuben Langdon
Michelle Ruff
Stephanie Sheh Orihime from Bleach and a lot of others.
Micah Solsoud
J. Michael Tatum
Mary Elizabeth McGlynn Major Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell and Cornelia from Code Geass.

But that is not all as joining them will be a whole host of people from the Internet based anime community and industry such as podcasters, manga reviewers, “Yu-Gi-Oh!: Abridged to name a few. The people that have so far volunteered include:

The team have also got support from Haunted Flower who be matching the donations up to $5,000 during the marathons first 24 hours for those join and donate via there Facebook page.
