Snyder finally lands his Lois Lane

HAVING already announced the casting of Brit actor Henry Cavill as Superman, the rumour-mill had been going into overdrive regarding who’d get the Lois Lane gig.

Director Zack Snyder had been keeping quiet – announcing roles being cast to Diane Lane and Kevin Costner (as Martha and Jonathan Kent) for his Superman: Man of Steel.

However, yesterday the cat was finally out of the bag after the man behind 300, Watchmen and the opinion-splitting Sucker Punch announced Lane would be played by Amy Adams.

Despite the casting coming out of leftfield somewhat, after mulling it over she does seem like a good choice for the role.

She’s likeable, homely, very attractive and most importantly, she has a personality – evident in films like Enchanted and the god-awful Leap Year (she was the only redeeming factor in that car-wreck of a film).

And more recently she has shown her acting chops alongside Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg and Melissa Leo with an Oscar-nominated performance in The Fighter.

Speaking to the LA Times, Snyder said: “There was a giant search for Lois. For us it was a big thing and obviously a really important role. We did a lot of auditioning but we had this meeting with Amy Adams and after that I just felt she was perfect for it.”

And he added how important Lane is to the Superman universe, saying: “It goes back to what I’ve said about Superman and making him really understandable for today.

“What’s important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today’s audience so that we understand the decisions he makes. That applies to Lois as well.”

Now all we’re waiting on is the revelation of who’ll be playing the villain – Viggo Mortensen has been linked with playing General Zod although it’s safe to say that particular link is just conjecture.
