Dark Horse Comics to publish Clamp’s Gate 7

The announcement came on Clamp’s official webpage that their latest manga, Gate 7 is to be published in book form by Dark Horse Comics.

Gate 7 had originally started out as a one-shot back in November 2010, in Jump Square magazine in Japan. However, since February this year it has been running as a regular series.

The story begins with Takamoto Chikahito, a student who travels to Kyoto hoping to find an apartment and attend high school. During a lunch break he meets a young girl, Hana, and her two male companions, Sakura and Tachibana, who each have mysterious powers. It turns out that Chikahito has met them before, and that there’s a lot more behind why he’s in Kyoto.

A date for the first volume hasn’t been set, with the announcement stating a rather vague “summer 2011”, but the possibility of reading new work from Clamp this year is clearly good news.

Dark Horse Comics have previously picked up the English licensing rights to some of Clamp’s most popular manga, having compiled omnibus editions of Cardcaptor Sakura, Chobits and Clover.
