Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 details leaked

Following on from our previous story about the suspected announcement of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this June, gamers across the globe who have waited for months without so much of a whisper from Infinity Ward or Activision about the inevitable sequel, and then suddenly yesterday out of the blue, gaming site Kotaku, posted details of the game from a supposed leak within the companies in question. This so-called leak, seems to this writer to be more like a tidal wave!

All of the information has – according to Kotaku – been verified by numerous anonymous sources, however there has been no official word from Activision yet.  However, Infinity Ward’s Robert Bowling has posted the following comment on Twitter: “A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on #MW3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I’d wait for the real reveal.”

Based on the information posted, the next Call of Duty game will be called Modern Warfare 3 and is a direct sequel to Modern Warfare 2, taking place mere minutes after the dramatic events we last saw.
Modern Warfare 3 will be jointly developed by Infinity Ward (the company behind the first two Modern Warfare games), Raven Software and Sledgehammer games, and is set for release on the 8th of November, 2011.

The single player story for the game will see players in various familiar locations around the world starting in Manhattan and seeing you all the way through to Dubai for the final mission. Familiar faces will also be returning to the series including Captain ‘Soap’ Mactavish and Captain Price, however there will also be new characters introduced that appear to be destined for future Call of Duty titles, most notably the Delta Force operatives codenamed “Frost” and “Sandman”.

Of course a Call of Duty game’s main attraction these days it would seem is the multiplayer side of it, and judging from Kotaku’s information, there is a lot to look forward to with that part of the game.
There are claimed to be several multiplayer maps to fight on (about 20) and all of the usual modes are expected to return, including fan favourites Team Deathmatch and Search and Destroy. Co-operative multiplayer will also be returning to the series in the form of Spec Ops (last seen in Modern Warfare 2) which comes with two modes this time – “Survival” and “Mission”.

Several more images to illustrate all of this information can be viewed on Kotaku’s website which you can access by clicking here. All of the information is, of course, subject to change at this stage in the game’s development, however at the moment it looks like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is all set to dazzle gamers once again when it hits the shelves later this year.
