Captain America – International Character Posters and TV Spots

With Thor already raking in the millions (over $400 million worldwide and rising), and X-Men: First Class having just been released, Marvel Studios are now turning their attentions to the third of their summer blockbusters. A trio of international character posters have been released for Captain America: The First Avenger, as well as two new TV spots.

The posters show Chris Evans as Captain America (with a bullet dented shield), Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, and Hugo Weaving as The Red Skull. Each of them are posing in front of a rather murky background. If that’s not enough, two new TV spots have also emerged (see below), with a good deal of explosions, window smashing and some obligatory shield-flinging action.

Horrified by the footage of the Nazis in Europe, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is inspired to enlist in the army. However, because of his frailty and sickness, he is rejected. Overhearing the boy’s earnest plea, Col. Chester Phillips (Tommy Lee Jones) offers Rogers the opportunity to take part in a special experiment, known as Operation: Rebirth. After weeks of tests, Rogers is administered the ‘Super-Soldier Serum’ and emerges from the treatment with a perfect body. Put through an intensive physical and tactical training program, he is soon armed with an indestructible shield and given his first assignment as Captain America.

Directed by Joe Johnston, the film also stars Stanley Tucci, Dominic Cooper and Neal McDonough.

Captain America: The First Avenger will be released in 3D in the UK on July 29th and in the US on July 22nd.
