Sony Playstation Store Goes Back Online

Over 1 month after initial hacking, the Sony Playstation Store is back online as of today June 2nd 2011.  The Playstation Network has been up and running for a couple weeks to allow online gaming features but until now the store for downloading content and redeeming vouchers was unavailable.

According to the Official Playstation Blog, the compensatory content which was promised as part of the ‘Welcome Back‘ programme is still unavailable so customers are essentially able to sign in but at their own risk of losing personal details again in any future hacks.  The reason for the delay is that Sony wants to ensure that the content download functions properly when inevitably 77 million people try to access it simultaneously. According to comments on the blog Sony is also open to the idea of purchasing content through Paypal.

The re-launch of the Playstation Store comes just in time for the E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo.
