Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders HD Collections incoming!

Konami and Kojima Productions announced yesterday their HD collection of their acclaimed franchises Metal Gear Solid and Zone of the Enders to the PS3 and Xbox 360. The Metal Gear Solid HD collection will contain Metal Gear Solid 2, 3 and the PSP title Peace Walker. The PS3 version will also contain a download code for the original Metal Gear Solid on the PS1. In addition to this, the PS3 version of Peace Walker will also have a new system called Transfarring (no typo, it’s actually called Transfarring) That enables players to take their save file on the PS3 and put it onto the PSP so you are able to pick up right where you left off, this appears to be the first of many titles that Kojima Productions will use this new Transfarring technology. A few months ago, Hideo Kojima showed his Metal Gear Solid 4 engine running on the NGP, is it possible that we could see NGP versions of these ports in the near future that will utilise this new Transfarring technology? It should also be noted that Transfarring is only possible between the PS3 and PSP versions of Peace Walker due to the different architecture of the 360‘s save game files. The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection will be hitting stores in November in Japan however it’s unclear whether or not that’s the international release. It will be released for the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Zone of the Enders is a niche game with a massive cult following. Fans have been clamoring for a new Zone of the Enders since the franchise’s last release in 2003. Along with the release of the Metal Gear Solid Collection Konami also announced the Zone of the Enders HD Collection, which contains Zone of the Enders and Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner. Konami could be testing the waters for the sales of this collection for a possible Zone of the Enders 3 release in the future with Transfarring enabled between the NGP and PS3.  The Zone of the Enders Collection will be coming in 2012 with no specific date to the Xbox 360 and PS3.
