DUM SPIRO SPERO, Dir En Grey style

Kudos if you understood a word of this article’s title (other than ‘style’).
Dum Spiro Spero‘ is a Latin phrase, roughly translating as “As long as I live, I hope.” It’s also the title of J-rock band Dir En Grey‘s latest album.

Despite the optimism this name suggests, especially compared with some of their previous album titles such as ‘Macabre,’ ‘Vulgar‘ and ‘Withering to Death,’ DUM SPIRO SPERO is set to be as heavy as ever. Guitarist and backing vocalist Kaoru has even called it “more savage” than their older releases. * (Watch their Lotus MV below and see what you think. For a stronger idea of the savagery in store, check out Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami – yes, that’s all one title – but be warned: the MV contains gory imagery!)

It’s been almost three years since DEG‘s last album, and it seems they’re trying to make up to their fans for the wait. Not only is a new album on its way, but a special CD box titled ‘DIR EN GREY/AMON‘ will be available, which will include a CD, booklet and poster. Furthermore, there will be a DUM SPIRO SPERO Limited Edition Bundle, which will include the deluxe version of the CD, the double LP, an exclusive T-Shirt design, an album digital download and an autographed poster. The album will be released early August.

As if things couldn’t get any better for DEG fans, the band has announced a 2011 World Tour. They’ll be hitting the Koko venue in Camden, London, on the 12th August.
