Captain Planet And The Planeteers

‘Captain Planet, he’s our hero, going to take pollution down to zero’

Captain Planet, mother natures very own blue faced crusader is set to hit the big screen in his very own live action eco eccentric blockbuster along side his pollution punching Planeteers and sidekick monkey… (no, he really did have a monkey).

Don Murphy and Susan Montford (Angry Film Works), producers of the tremendously triumphant Transformers trilogy, have officially signed a deal with Cartoon Network and Turner Broadcasting to rejuvenate and revive Ted Turner‘s 90’s mullet maverick in order to lay down the law once more across the globe.

The Lycra loving nature buff was summoned via five magical rings, Fire, Water, Earth, Wind,and….Heart. Each ring nestled safely on the fingers of five specially chosen do gooders, The Planeteers. Targeting corporate Sleaze and Eco-Terrorists, the five teens would travel the world (using solar power….of course) to preserve and protect the Earth’s natural resources, and when the tough got going Captain Planet was called upon to set the record straight.

Featuring in six animated series’, a comic saga and on the face of multi vitamins it was only a matter of time till Captain Planet made his way into Hollywood. Both educating kids and kicking butt, school is most definitely in session.

Stuart Snyder of Turner Broadcasting System Inc. said:

“The messages of Captain Planet are even more relevant today… We feel this team can bring the world’s first eco-hero to life in a powerful motion picture that is not only pertinent but entertaining.”

Montford added:
“With the earthquakes, tornadoes, melting icebergs and all the other problems threatening the world right now, Earth really needs her greatest defender.”

Looking to be the potential anti-distaster movie, Captain Planet could be the smack in the face we all need and have a bigger impact more than ever. After all in his words “The Power is Yours!”

What’s next? Biker Mice From Mars, Super Ted, The Dream Stone?? Will this be a hit or one to recycle? Share you’re thoughts in the comments below.
