Filming Begins on Eighth Series of Hustle

It has been revealed that work has started on the eighth series of the BBC hit show Hustle. The series, which is actually set in London, is being shot primarily in Birmingham, where filming began in the city’s historical Jewellery Quater.

The new series will be the last, which has now been going for seven years. Debuting in 2003, the programme follows a group of grifters lead by Mickey Bricks, played by Adrian Lester, and Albert Stroller, played by Robert Vaughn who rose to fame as The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Other members of the grifting gang include Ash Morgan, also known as Three Socks (think about it), played by Robert Glenister and brother and sister double act Emma and Sean Kennedy.

Very little is currently known about what the new series has in store for the cunning con-artists, but it is rumoured that the group’s leader Mickey is to be kidnapped in episode two, and it is left up to the rest of the gang to save him. Not only is it a great storyline, it’s also very convenient for actor Adrian Lester as he’ll be behind the camera directing the episode. It seems he caught the directing bug after writing and directing a twenty minute short called ‘Of Mary’ earlier this year. The actor has his sights set on directing a feature film in the near future.

I was going to pull out of season seven, but we agreed to give Hustle one last kick,'”said Adrian who was born and raised in Birmingham. He has also said how he feels a huge sense of pride at being “back home.” They may be good at disguises during the cons but there’s no hiding some of Birmingham’s famous landmarks, which have been spotted by eagle-eyed viewers in a ‘Where’s Wally?’ fashion after production was moved from London to Birmingham for the filming of series six.

But what will the future hold for the grifters? Will they get caught? Will they all go their seperate ways? We’ll just have to wait and see. One thing’s for sure; the series will certainly go out in style.
