New WWE ’12 Videos, Pictures and Roster details!

With the final quarter of the year almost upon us, games companies are starting to churn out as much PR and information about their forthcoming titles in the hope that gamers will spend their hard earned money on their products. One such company is THQ, who as we have been covering here on MCM Buzz, are due to release the newest iteration in their ongoing WWE franchise, WWE ’12, this November.

The last few days have seen them announce everything from the game’s roster to videos of the game in action that highlights some of the new changes. So in the spirit of our previous coverage we decided to bring you up to date with it all as well and first up the new wrestlers in this year’s roster.

Every year for as long as I can remember, THQ have created a Buzz (pardon the pun) around who will be in the game and this year is no different, with a roster made up of over 60 WWE Superstars and featuring once again a mixture of present WWE Athletes and WWE Legends. Curious to see the roster? Well here it is:

Alberto Del RioAlex RileyAnimal, Arn Anderson, Ax, Beth Phoenix, Big Show, Chavo Guerrero, Booker T, Christian, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, Daniel Bryan, David Otunga, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Eddie Guerrero, Edge, Evan Bourne, Eve, Ezekial Jackson, Goldust, Hawk, Heath Slater, Husky Harris, Jack Swagger, Jerry Lawler, John Cena, John Morrison, Justin Gabriel, Kane, Kelly Kelly, Kevin Nash, Kofi Kingston, Layla, M. McGillicutty, Mark Henry, Maryse, Mason Ryan, Michelle McCool, Natalya, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio, Ricky Steamboat, R-Truth, Santino Marella, Sheamus, Sin Cara, Smash, Steve Austin, Ted DiBiase, The Miz, The Rock, Triple H, Tyson Kidd, Undertaker, Vader, Vince McMahon, Vladimir Kozlov, Wade Barrett, William Regal, Yoshi Tatsu and Zack Ryder.

Can’t see your favourite superstar or legend in that list? Well worry not as there are still 14 more names to be added and it is safe to assume that some of these will be characters that are available as DLC after the game’s release.  There is also a rumour currently circulating that one of these names is set to be the self proclaimed voice of the WWE, commentator Michael Cole, and that for the first time he will be a fully playable character.

Next up is the release of the first in the “Inside The Ring” series of videos from the THQ team that are designed to not only give players a look at the game, but also to hear first hand from the developers what is new and what has been changed or improved in the game. To watch the video you can click play below, but if you don’t have 12 minutes then scroll below for some of the key points that were raised in the video.

  • WWE ’12 features a new depth of field when it comes to the crowd in the background and this has been done to give the player a more realistic experience.
  • 25 New authentic WWE camera angles have been added to enhance the feel of actually being part of a WWE broadcast.
  • CM Punk will have his current entrance music.
  • One of the new animations for characters in a submission hold will see characters crawling and reaching for the ropes, a first in wrestling games.
  • You can once again store multiple finishers.
  • If you use your signature as a pose to just letting it build up and go to your finisher, you will be rewarded with a “Super Finisher” which is a more powerful version of your finisher.
  • And finally WWE Championship title sizes have been increased so as to look more realistic and in line with the real life versions.

As if that wasn’t enough another video (click play below to watch) dubbed the “Predator Technology Trailer,” has been released and it shows off some more of the new features as well as giving you a better idea as to just what the new predator technology is all about.

And finally, fans can also choose who will appear on the cover of the WWE ’12 collector’s box by visiting here. The choice is between The Rock and the special “Peoples Edition” of the cover or John Cena and the special “Champ’s Edition”, a choice which for some will be certainly easier than it is for others, judging by the reaction these two superstars elicit from the fans.

So with everything from Divas being able to fight in Hell in a Cell matches, to the basics of the ring ropes shaking when you do a move, it certainly looks as if THQ are attempting to make WWE ’12 the biggest WWE game yet. Only time will tell if they succeed and in the meantime we here at the MCM Buzz will keep you posted on all new WWE ’12 news as we get it.

WWE’ 12 is available on XBOX 360, PS3 and Nintendo Wii from November 25th and is published by THQ.
