Ni No Kuni subtitled Wrath of the White Witch for the US

It was during a press conference at the Tokyo Game Show that Level-5’s president, Akihiro Hino, revealed that an English language version of Ni No Kuni was in the works, and that it would be released in the US in early 2012.

Now it’s been revealed that a trademark for the game’s new subtitle was passed just a few days ago. It will be known in the US as Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. It’s also rather brave that they intend to stick with its original Japanese title.

Notable for being co-developed by Studio Ghibli, the story has a young boy named Oliver venturing to an alternate world known as Ni No Kuni so that he can try and revive his recently deceased mother.

At the moment there is no word on if the game will make it to Europe. While Level-5 don’t have any European offices, their White Knight Chronicles titles have made it over after being published by Sony. Also, the steps that Level-5 have gone through to ensure a US release does slightly increase the possibility that the game might make it over to the UK. Failing that, region free games on the PS3 means that you can always import.

Ni No Kuni is released in Japan on November 17th.
