Red Dwarf – An Update on Series 10

Red Dwarf is finally back in production. For the first time in 12 years the boys from the Dwarf are rehearsing and performing in front of a live studio audience.

Sadly for many Dwarfers the hope of being part of the studio audience was short-lived as tickets sold out within an hour of being available. The overwhelming response even caused Lost in TV’s website to crash, leaving fans frantically refreshing their webpages; while the more resourceful of Smegheads emailed Lost in TV with ticket requests.

However, on the bright side, a full Red Dwarf series is due to air on man channel Dave in the autumn of 2012 – after the Olympics of course, to avoid the risk of overshadowing the great sporting event – and for those who missed out on tickets, at least we can enjoy the episodes without any spoilers. The series’ director Ed Bye has requested that those attending the filming to not publish any spoliers online, nor is photography allowed.

During the past few weeks Shepperton Studios has been a hive of activity with sets being built, scripts being memorised and scenes being rehearsed. As a result there has been a reported Vindaloo shortage within the area; however there have been some developments. The top story being the news that Kryten has a new head. Robert Llewellyn who plays the OCD mechanoid has claimed the new rubber head is an improvement and an exclusive clip showing the transformation from top tweeter to guilt-ridden mechanoid, is avaliable on the Dave website.

In other news it has been reported that an actress from the popular sitcom Goodnight Sweetheart is to appear in an episode. The classic time-travelling sitcom directed by Ed Bye ran throughout the 1990s and featured Dervla Kirwan amongst its cast, who has since starred in Doctor Who and numerous television dramas, including The Silence and Injustice. Chances are that Dervla is the Dwarf’s, as yet, unconfirmed guest.
