International Celebs Talk About Kpop

With the increase of Kpop idols leaving the boundaries of Korea, Asia and travelling to Europe and America instead, it’s no wonder that international celebrities are starting to notice the Hallyu Wave and the talent that’s crossing the sea.

Vampire Diaries star Kat Graham spoke to a Dutch magazine confessing her fandom for Kpop group ‘2NE1‘. Kat was asked, “What songs do you listen to in order to have a great night?” her reply was “I love the Korean girl group 2NE1. If I were to be having a great time, then it would have definitely begun with their songs.”

Back in October 2011 Kat was first seen talking about 2NE1 with her Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev through Twitter. Kat had shared 2NE1‘s ‘I Am The Best‘ music video stating “I’m going to need you to tweet that amazing Korean pop music video lol! Watch this one too.” Shortly after she tweeted a second time exclaiming “OMG dyinggg! Apparently I’m not the only one obsessed with K-Pop! So amazeballs!!!,” after apparently finding Perez Hilton‘s Kpop posts. Nina in reply also re-tweeted the video stating, “These chicks are pretty amazing. Badass!” earning the reply back from Kat “Korean pop baby!”

Following in the footsteps of Kat, Ashton Kutcher and Eric Benet are also tweeting about Kpop, but this time not about an idol, more about an idol to come. Like America and the UK, Korea also has their own form of The X-Factor under the name of ‘SBS K-Pop Star‘. The judges consist of the ‘Big Three’ entertainment companies, JYP Entertainment‘s CEO Park Jin Young, YG Entertainment‘s CEO Yang Hyun Suk and representing SM Entertainment is global SMEnt Kpop star BOA.

Along with Ashton, Eric and the judges, the world was taken aback with the performance of 15 year old Park Ji Min and her cover of Adele’sRolling In The Deep‘. She was such a big hit that world news provider CNN even covered her story, bringing even more world coverage.

On December 31st, Ashton tweeted Ji Min’s performance with the words  “this is AMAZING!!!!“, only to have Eric tweet later on showing his appreciation of the Korean singer “Korea has some astounding talent” in Hangul.
What are your thoughts? Do you think Ji Min is the next up coming Kpop Idol? Or do you think she will be a one hit wonder? Check out the video below. You wont be disappointed in this talent.
