Hancock 2 Still a possibility?!

It has been promised for several years and if the comments made recently by director Peter Berg are any indication, then there is still a chance that we could see a sequel to the 2008 superhero movie, Hancock.

In a recent interview with the Comic Book Movie website, Berg is quoted as saying, “We’ve been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldman and myself,” said Berg. “We’re all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time. We did have a series of meetings last year and started to hash out an idea for sequel—and Will Smith actually had the idea—so I think it will happen, it’s just a question of timing.”

The movie, which starred Will Smith, told the story of a superhero (Hancock) who has fallen out favour with the public due to his hard-living lifestyle. It made over $600 million dollars despite a not so favourable response from critics and so financially at least the sequel could be viable. Add to this the fact that Will Smith is currently re-visiting sequels of past successes, with Men in Black 3 due this year and the odds seemingly look good for the project.

Who knows, the movie may even see Smith bring in his son and daughter to play Hancock’s children in a bid to target the movie at a family market whilst also cashing in on the popularity of the star’s two offspring. Whatever happens, one thing is certain; whether you loved the movie or hated it, you will definitely be eager to hear where this story ends up.
