Aliens: Colonial Marines Cinematic Trailer

Aliens: Colonial Marines is an upcoming squad-based shooter from Gearbox Software, creators of Counter-Strike and Borderlands. It will be set in the universe of the Alien franchise and feature characters and creatures from the series, particularly the film Aliens.

One of the game’s major selling points is the ability to either control your four man squad in single player, switching characters at any time and issuing squad commands to your AI team members, or have friends drop into the campaign to control team members in co-op throughout the main campaign at any time.

The game will be set between Aliens and Alien 3. In it “A Colonial Marine search and rescue team has been sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco in search of Ellen Ripley, Corporal Dwayne Hicks, and the rest of the missing marines who were dispatched to LV-426.”

Today a new cinematic trailer for the game was released. It contains no in game footage, but does show a group of marines being surrounded and attacked.

The game is expected to release Q3 2012 on the PCPS3, Xbox 360, 3DS and Wii U, though no logos for Nintendo systems are shown at the end of this latest trailer.

What do you think of the trailer? Does it get you excited about the new game? Would you have rather seen gameplay footage? Let us know in the comments below.
